Snake Bites Piercing in Gurgaon: Symmetry, Healing Two at Once and Teeth

Snake bites lip piercing with two flat-back studs, Vulture Tattoos Gurgaon

Snake bites are two piercings on the lower lip, positioned symmetrically on either side of centre, styled to resemble a snake’s bite mark. It is one of the more recognisable lip piercing looks — and it is also two lip piercings healing at the same time, which changes the maths on almost everything from pain to timeline to aftercare compared with a single labret.

If you are considering snake bites piercing in gurgaon, this guide covers why the symmetry check matters more here than anywhere else, what healing two piercings at once actually involves, and the teeth conversation that applies twice over. We are Vulture Tattoos, an appointment-only studio in Sector 47. For the broader family of lip placements, our lip piercing guide covers labret, Monroe and Medusa.

Symmetry — the whole game, marked before anything is pierced

This is the single most important part of the whole process, and it is worth understanding why it takes longer than people expect.

  • Both points are marked and measured against each other and against the natural shape of your lips — not against a fixed template, because every mouth is a different width and shape.
  • They are checked with your mouth relaxed and with a natural smile. Points that look perfectly even with your mouth still can look uneven the moment you speak or smile, because lip tissue moves and stretches differently in different people.
  • You confirm the marks in a mirror before either piercing happens. Take your time here. Once both holes are pierced, adjusting spacing is not simple.

Rushing this stage is the single biggest reason snake bites end up looking slightly uneven for life. Slowing down here is time well spent.

Does it hurt?

Each individual piercing feels similar to a standard labret — a quick, sharp pinch lasting a second or two, comparable to or slightly milder than an earlobe. Lip tissue is soft, and the piercing itself is fast.

What is different is that it happens twice, and the second side often feels sharper simply because you now know exactly what is coming. Overall it is more of an event than a single labret, but not meaningfully more painful per piercing.

Our lip piercing guide covers the sensation for a single lip placement in more detail, and our pain guide covers placements across the body generally.

Swelling — expect more than a single lip piercing

Two piercings on the lower lip means more total swelling than one, and it is worth planning around properly.

  • Three to five days of noticeable swelling, sometimes affecting the whole lower lip rather than staying localised to each point.
  • Eating and speaking are more awkward than with a single piercing, simply because more of the lip is affected at once.
  • The initial jewellery on both sides is sized slightly long to accommodate this. It will look larger than the final look at first — that is intentional.
  • Ice, used gently, helps in the first day or two.

The teeth risk — applies twice over

Everything true about a single lip piercing and dental health applies here, doubled — two barbells resting against your gums and teeth rather than one.

  • Flat-back labret studs, not rings or balls. A flat disc causes far less wear against gums than a rounded ball, which is why we fit these as standard for both sides.
  • Correct length on both bars, checked once swelling settles. A bar left too long after initial swelling presses harder against teeth than it should.
  • Do not click either piece against your teeth — an easy unconscious habit to fall into with two pieces of jewellery to fidget with, and one that accelerates enamel wear.
  • Tell your dentist you have snake bites, not just a general lip piercing, so they know to check both sides.

Our lip piercing guide covers this risk in full detail — everything there applies here, on both sides.

Healing two piercings at once

  • 8 to 12 weeks is realistic, on the longer end for lip piercings, because two healing sites on the same small area of tissue means more overall inflammation and a bit more time for everything to settle.
  • They do not always heal at exactly the same pace. One side settling slightly ahead of the other is common and not a problem — just be patient with the slower side rather than treating both the same at every stage.
  • Double the vigilance on aftercare, simply because there are two sites to manage rather than one.

Mouth care during healing

  1. Rinse with alcohol-free antiseptic mouthwash or saline solution after eating, covering both sides thoroughly, for the first few weeks.
  2. Sterile saline spray on both outer piercings, same as any fresh piercing.
  3. Avoid spicy, acidic, very hot or very cold food for the first week — with two piercings, irritation from food affects a larger area of the lip.
  4. No smoking, vaping, alcohol or kissing for at least the first two weeks.
  5. Do not fidget with either piece against your teeth or against each other.
  6. Soft food and careful eating while swelling is present, more so than with a single lip piercing.

The Gurgaon part: as with any lip piercing, this is more about oral hygiene discipline than climate. Our piercing aftercare guide covers general aftercare principles.

What can go wrong

  • Asymmetry. The main preventable risk, and why the marking stage matters so much before anything is pierced.
  • Gum recession and enamel wear. Covered above, doubled by having two pieces of jewellery. Preventable with correct flat-back jewellery and sizing.
  • Uneven healing between the two sides. Common and usually not a concern, just a reason for patience.
  • Migration on one or both sides. More likely if a bar was too short or too long.
  • Infection. Increasing pain after the first few days, spreading redness, thick discharge or fever on either side means a doctor, not a piercer.

Jewellery

  • Matching flat-back labret studs on both sides — the standard for dental health reasons, and matching keeps the look intentional.
  • Correctly measured for your lip, individually on each side, since lips are rarely perfectly symmetrical even when the piercing placement is.

Implant-grade titanium, always, on both pieces.

Why the piercer matters

Snake bites live or die on the marking stage. Getting the spacing, the distance from centre and the height right, on both sides, checked with your mouth in different positions, is what separates a set that looks deliberate from one that looks slightly off forever. Everything after that — the actual piercing, the jewellery, the healing — is largely the same skill as any lip piercing, just doubled.

  • Needle, always, for both piercings.
  • Single-use sterile needles opened in front of you.
  • Careful symmetrical marking, confirmed with you in a mirror before either piercing.
  • Flat-back jewellery as standard, with a downsize appointment for both sides built into the plan.

Every piercing here is done with single-use sterile equipment opened in front of you, in an appointment-only room. That is part of why our clients have left more than 270 five-star Google reviews. Our piercing studio guide for Gurgaon covers the standards to expect anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are snake bites piercings?

Two piercings on the lower lip, placed symmetrically on either side of centre, styled to resemble a snake bite. They are two separate lip piercings healing at the same time, which means more overall swelling, a slightly longer healing timeline, and doubled attention needed on symmetry and dental care compared with a single labret.

Does getting snake bites hurt more than one lip piercing?

Each individual piercing feels similar to a standard labret — a quick sharp pinch for a second or two. It happens twice, and the second side often feels sharper simply from anticipation, but neither piercing is meaningfully more painful on its own. It is more of an event overall because there are two.

How do you make sure snake bites are symmetrical?

Both points are marked and measured against your natural lip shape, checked with your mouth relaxed and with a natural smile, and confirmed with you in a mirror before either piercing happens. This stage takes real time and is the single most important part of the process — rushing it is the main reason snake bites end up looking uneven.

How long does it take to heal both piercings?

Eight to twelve weeks realistically, on the longer end for lip piercings, because two healing sites on a small area of tissue means more total inflammation. The two sides do not always heal at exactly the same pace, which is normal — be patient with whichever side settles more slowly.

Can snake bites damage my teeth?

Yes, if fitted with the wrong jewellery — the same risk as any lip piercing, doubled because there are two barbells in contact with your gums and teeth. Flat-back studs rather than balls or rings, correct length checked as swelling settles, and not fidgeting with the jewellery against your teeth largely prevent this.

Can I get snake bites if I already have a single lip piercing?

Sometimes, depending on where your existing piercing sits and whether adding two more nearby would crowd the area or affect symmetry. Bring in a photo or come for a consultation and we will tell you honestly whether it will work well with what you already have.

What if one side heals faster than the other?

Completely normal and not a cause for concern. Continue the aftercare routine on both sides regardless, and avoid the temptation to change the jewellery on the faster-healing side early just because it feels ready — wait until both are properly healed.
